Dr. Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, Minister of Planning and Investment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, along with executives of Ministry of Planning and Investment visited the Honorary Consulate of the Lao PDR on the AGU Kusumoto Campus on Friday, September 18th.
Warmly welcomed by the Honorary Consul Dr. Tadataka Koide, the Minister and members of the Ministry of Planning and Investment met with the Honorary Consul and researchers of the Institute of Lao Study (Director Hiromichi Hikita) pleasantly. Professor Hatsuhiko Maeda presented a computer applied pathological study system which attracted keen interests from the visitors. Also, further cooperative efforts and exchanges between the two nations were talked about during the meeting. The Minister sincerely appreciated the hospitality extended by the Japanese hosts in organizing the visit and expressed his gratitude, stating "we hope to continue our friendship with Japan for many years to come and would much like the Japanese people to know more about Laos through the Honorary Consulate and the Institute of Lao Study". Moreover, the Honorary Consul Koide and AGU concerned were cordially invited to visit Laos.
A welcome reception party hosted by the Honorary Consul Koide was held late afternoon at the Westin Nagoya Castle. Japanese government representative Ms. Yuko Futamoto (Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), business representatives of central Japan, as well as AGU Proctor Hayakawa Taiichi, Professor Emeritus Yoichiro Kameyama, Dean of School of Dentistry Professor Toshihide Noguchi, and Professor Nagato Natsume attended the reception. Various opinions such as electric power development in Laos by Japanese companies were exchanged during the party which was held with great success from beginning to end.
