The Honorary Consulate of the Lao People's Democratic Republic was opened in Aichi Gakuin University to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic ties between Japan and Laos, and I am deeply honored to be appointed as the Honorary Consul. With the opening of Central Japan International Airport and the hosting of the 2005 World Exposition, Nagoya has now got the strongest economic power in Japan. As a university-based honorary consulate, we are making efforts to promote cultural & educational exchanges as well as commercial ties with Laos. To this end, AGU established the Institute of Lao Study and published "The Guidance for Understanding of Laos" to enhance awareness of Laos. In the meantime, we would like you all to support the activities for the Japan-Laos friendship.
